📎 Quick Links

🚴‍♂️ Pre-Ride Info

  • Official pre-ride is usually Friday evening before the race.

  • You may pre-ride earlier in the week, but the course may not be fully marked. Use Trailforks or similar to stay on course.

  • Only athletes and coaches with pre-ride plates may pre-ride on the official pre-ride day.

  • Keep your pre-ride plate for the entire season. Replacement plates cost $10, so don’t lose it!

  • DO NOT RACE with a pre-ride plate on your bike.

🏕️ Team Pit Zone Info

  • Opens at 6:30 AM — no need to arrive earlier.

  • This is where athletes check in before the race and usually return after finishing.

  • Parents may visit but cannot hang out; space is very limited and reserved for our athletes.

  • Food, water, and drinks available for athletes, coaches and all-day volunteers only.

  • Bike stands are for athletes and warm-up coaches only.

📋 Race Day Checklist

Arrival Timeline

  • Park no later than 2 hours before your race start.

  • Arrive at Pit Zone 1 hour 45 minutes before race.

  • Meet your warm-up group 1 hour before race. Warm up schedule will be emailed before race.

  • Warm-up groups do not wait for late athletes.

  • After warm-up, athletes go straight to staging (no returning to pit zone).

  • Call-ups begin 15 minutes before race start.

  • Athletes MUST BE at staging area 5 to 10 minutes before call-ups. Staging time will be emailed before race.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Warm-Up Coaches

  • Be on time.

  • Head coaches will ask for volunteers to serve as warm-up coaches.

  • When you arrive, figure out the route from the Pit Zone to the staging entry points (not the start line).

  • Help make sure riders are fully ready before leaving the Pit Zone — so there’s no need to return.

  • Coaches will give direction on where to warm up.

  • You are responsible for gathering your group and starting warm-up 1 hour before the race start.

  • Do not wait for late riders — if there are two warm-up coaches, one can stay behind for late athletes.

  • Have your group at the staging entry point 5 to10 minutes before call-ups.

  • At staging, help double-check that riders are ready to race.

🤝 Race Day Volunteers

  • Sign up: brightonmtbteam.com/volunteer.

  • We need you — thank you for your support!

    • Pass safely and loudly — be assertive.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 During the Race — Parents

  • Devo races last ~20 to 50 minutes.

  • High School races ~60 to 90 minutes.

  • Check past results to estimate timing.

  • High School riders pass feed zones each lap for water handoff.

  • Many venues have spectator points mid-course.

  • Bring camp chairs, water, snacks, and light gear.

  • Some venues offer food trucks — check the league site.

🏁 After the Race

  • Finish corral for athletes only — water and cold towels provided.

  • Parents wait just outside to greet athletes.

  • Volunteers move bikes outside corral. Athletes and parents must return bikes to the pit zone.

  • Return both race plates (bike + jersey) to the team folder after the race.

    • Plates are reused all season.

    • DO NOT take plates home.

🎉 Podiums & Post-Race

  • Devo Riders (7th to 8th Grade)

    • Hang out and watch High School races after your race.

    • All Devo gear out of Pit Zone by 11:00 AM (may vary by venue).

    • Podium at ~11:00 AM for top 5 in each category.

    • 7th and 8th grade girls race together but podium separately.

    • Advanced category podium combined.

  • High School Riders (9th to 12th Grade)

    • Podium starts at ~6:00 PM, after final races and venue cleanup.

    • Top 5 finishers in each category recognized.

    • Team awards by division announced (D1, D2, etc.) based on points.

    • Only High School athletes earn points for team standings; Devo does not.

🏆 Understanding Results & Scoring

  • Devo: Individual competition only; no team points.

  • High School: Individual and team scoring.

  • Brighton races in Division 1 (D1) with other large teams (Corner Canyon, Alta in Region 3).

  • Team points come from the 16 High School riders with the most points in each race.

  • Divisions based on team size, not school size.
