Parents, please review this with your athlete so everyone knows the race day plan. New and returning families will find this helpful. Schedules are subject to change due to weather, league decisions, or other factors.

Wave schedule: Typically posted 1 week before each race on League Website.

Pre-Ride Information
-
Official pre-ride is usually the Friday evening before a race.
-
You may pre-ride earlier in the week, but courses may not be fully marked. Use Trailforks or similar to stay on course.

Only athletes and coaches with pre-ride plates may pre-ride on official pre-ride day.
-
Keep your pre-ride plate for the season; replacement plates cost $10.
-
Do not race with a pre-ride plate on your bike.

Team Pit Zone
-
Opens 6:30 am; no need to arrive earlier.
-
Athletes check in and return after finishing.
-
Parents may visit briefly but cannot hang out; space is limited.
-
Food, water, and drinks are for athletes, coaches, and all-day volunteers only.

Bike stands are for athletes and warm-up coaches only.

Arrival Timeline

Park no later than 2 hours before race start

Arrive at Pit Zone 1 hour 45 minutes before race

Meet your warm-up group 1 hour before race; schedule emailed before race

Warm-up groups do not wait for late athletes
-
After warm-up, go straight to staging (no returning to Pit Zone)
-
Call-ups begin 15 minutes before race; be at staging 5–10 minutes before call-ups

Warm-Up Coaches
-
Arrive on time.

Volunteers help as warm-up coaches under guidance of head coaches.

Know the route from Pit Zone to staging entry points.

Gather your group and start warm-up 1 hour before race start

Do not wait for late riders; if multiple coaches, one can stay behind
-
Ensure riders are ready at staging 5–10 minutes before call-ups

Race Day Volunteers

Required: Parents volunteer at minimum 2 team races + 1 league race per athlete per season

Roles: Pit Zone setup, finish line, feed zone, general support
-
No experience needed — training provided
-
Volunteers working 2+ shifts receive free team lunch

Sustainability
-
Reuse metal cups and silverware — label with tape

Sort waste properly: recycling bins (blue lids) vs. trash

Parents can help wash cups/utensils or transport recyclables

During the Race – Athletes

Junior Devo Riders (7th–8th grade)
-
Race length: 1–1.5 laps (~20–50 min)

Bring sufficient water; no refill points on course

Fuel: 15–25g carbs per lap

Pass safely and loudly; carry a tube

High School Riders (9th–12th grade)

Race length: 2–4 laps

Feed zone available each lap for water; coordinate with coaches

Devo races last ~20–50 minutes; High School races ~60–90 minutes

After the Race

Finish corral: athletes only; water and cold towels provided

Parents wait just outside to greet athletes

Volunteers move bikes outside corral; all bikes return to Pit Zone

Return race plates (bike + jersey) to team folder for reuse

Team points come from the 16 High School riders with the most points in each race.
